About
I'm Garett Matthew, and I build every site myself
GME Designs is deliberately a one-person shop. You get the same person on the phone, in the design review and in the code — which is the whole point.
Before this, I spent years on the other side of the table. I bought and renovated property around San Diego, which meant hiring roofers, HVAC techs, plumbers and remodelers — dozens of them, over and over.
What I kept noticing was that the quality of the crew and the quality of their marketing had almost nothing to do with each other. Some of the best people I worked with were nearly impossible to find online. Meanwhile outfits I'd never hire twice sat at the top of the map pack, taking calls all day, because someone had bothered to set up their Google profile properly.
That gap is the business
Good contractors lose work to worse contractors for reasons that have nothing to do with the work. It's fixable, and it isn't even complicated — it's just nobody's job on a crew of six.
So GME Designs does that job. I build the site by hand so it loads fast on a phone at a job site. I structure it so each service and each town has a real page behind it. I get the Google Business Profile into shape and keep it active. Then I tell you every month, in plain English, what changed.
Why hand-coded
A page builder is a reasonable tool if you need a site by Friday and don't care whether anyone finds it. The trade-off is weight: a typical builder ships several megabytes of JavaScript before a visitor sees a word, and every plugin you add makes it worse.
Writing it by hand in Next.js takes longer up front and pays for itself immediately. There's no theme to outgrow, no plugin to break on update, and nothing on the page that isn't earning its place. That's how sub-second load times happen — not by optimizing a bloated site, but by never building one.
What I'm not
I'm not an agency, I don't have a sales team, and I can only take on a handful of new builds at a time. If you're looking for someone to manage a six-figure ad budget across four channels, I'm the wrong call and I'll say so. If you want a fast website that ranks in your service area and a real person who picks up the phone, that's exactly what this is.
How I work
You talk to the person doing the work
No account manager relaying messages, no offshore team you never meet. The person who answers the phone is the person writing the code.
Nothing gets sold that isn't needed
If your site is fine and your Google Business Profile is the actual problem, that's a much cheaper conversation and we'll have it honestly.
Everything is hand-coded
No WordPress, no page builders, no plugin stack to maintain. Fewer moving parts means faster sites and less that can break at 2am.
Plain English, always
Reports say what moved and what we're doing next. If a term needs a glossary, it doesn't belong in your monthly update.
How it works
Four steps, no mystery, no disappearing act
You'll know what's happening at every stage and who to call. That shouldn't be a selling point, and yet here we are.
- 01
Discovery call
Thirty minutes on the phone. What jobs make you the most money, what towns you'll drive to, who you keep losing bids to, and where leads are coming from now. No pitch deck.
- 02
Strategy & sitemap
We come back with the keyword research, a competitor teardown and a page-by-page plan. You see exactly what's getting built and what each page is meant to rank for before anyone writes code.
- 03
Design & build
You review a design of the homepage first. Once it's approved, the rest of the site gets built to match and you get a live preview link you can watch fill in day by day.
- 04
Launch & measure
We handle DNS, redirects and the Search Console setup so nothing drops. Then analytics and call tracking go live, and you get a monthly note on what's working.
Client reviews
What contractors say once the phone starts ringing
Six months in, nobody talks about the design. They talk about the calls.
“I'd been through two web guys before Garett. Both took the money and disappeared. This one answers the phone, and the site has paid for itself many times over. We're booked out six weeks.”
“Our old site took nine seconds to load. Nine. Garett rebuilt it and now it's under a second, and we went from maybe two form fills a week to two a day. The difference was immediate.”
“What sold me was that he asked which jobs actually make us money before he talked about design. Nobody else did that. The whole site is built around the work we want more of.”
